SAN ANTONIO REGION MEETING NOTES, MAY 7, 2010

Attendees. Bob Perez, Henry Ortega, David Reta, Laurie Castillo, Greg Garcia, Lalo Gomez, Lee Reyna, Francisco Maldonado and Jose Ventura.

Laurie started us off by giving us a breakdown of the latest 'Confirmed" numbers. As of May 6, 7601 Seniors have confirmed to attend TAMU. Out of this, some 1455 Hispanic Seniors are confirmed. Both figures are below last years numkbers. May 15th is the last day for all selectees to confirm to TAMU or to any other State/National College or University. The local Perspective Student Center (PSC)on May 13 will support Hispanic Women's Day held at Brackenbridge H.S. On May 18, the PSC will also participate in a statewide Webcam Financial Aid Seminar. This is the last opportunity H.S. seniors needing assistance with financial aid can receive it from multiple State Universities at the same time. Finally, the PSC will host an Aggie Tailgate Get-Together at Aggie Park on June 2, 630-830pm. All high school seniors who confirmed attending TAMU are invited along with their families. We are also invited to attend this event. Hope to see several of you there.

TAMHN-S.A. Region has agreed to sponsor 50 Hispanic seniors to Fish Camp. We will look at perhaps sponsoring 10 more. The PSC will lease a bus. If needed a van but only if our Network volunteers two van drivers. More on this later.

Attached to this email are two documents. The first one is our Network's Newsletter and the second is a letter sent by our President, Francisco Maldonado, to Dr. Loftin. Please take the time to read them. If you have questions please call me at 210-535-3407.

In June we will not have a meeting we will however meet for a social gathering at Paloma Del Norte Resturant. We will meet June 18, 6pm. Please mark it on your calendar. Also if you know of any Hispanic Aggie who may not be aware we exist or those who know about us but have not attended our meetings, invite them and bring them with you. Hope to see you and your spouses/friends there. More info later.
