Aggie Summer Institute 2007
Texas A&M University hosted the Aggie Summer Institute 2007 “Jumpstart to College” program throughout Texas in each of the Regional Prospective Student Centers on June 25th -28th. This free college preparatory program was designed to help students prepare for the college of their choice. This year ASI was held at the Del Mar College East Campus with over 150 participants from grades 7-12. Incentives were given daily; (I-pod, digital camera, and laptop). Seniors finished the program by attending an overnight trip to College Station where six $1000 scholarships were awarded to each Prospective Student Center/region.
Aggie Mom’s Host “Dinner with Dat”
On Sunday July 15th, Monika Caylor '97 an admissions counselor at the Prospective Student Center, attended the Aggie Mom's Dinner with Dat fundraiser. The PSC donated 2 gift baskets for the scholarship auction and an additional basket was given to Dat Nguyen. A resource table was set up giving former, current, and future Aggies the opportunity to obtain university information. Finally, Dat signed his jersey which was owned by Monika Caylor, and is now on display in our local Prospective Student Center.
Fish Camp Scholarships Awarded to Local Students
The Prospective Student Center awarded 7 area students scholarships to Fish Camp. The scholarship covered registration, meals, lodging, and transportation to and from College Station. The students attended Aug. 9-12.
